Mannerism
– a late medieval European period movement in the arts. It was an reaction
against da Vinci, Raphael and Michelangelo and was artificial and intellectual.
In architecture it
saw the use of highly elaborate carving with the distortion of scale and
perspective in all aspects of the movement.
