With the holiday season a matter of weeks away we are all turning our thoughts to what to buy.  Particularly for those who are, perhaps, not the easiest of individuals to satisfy.

Hints for a Happy Christmas

  • When pressee shopping - leave the children behind

  • For Christmas dinner - cheat  - there are so many great ready made items out there

  • Be extra specially careful over security and fire.  Burglars have a fine old time with all the new presents and fires can start more easily because we’re not as observant as usual.  So think 'clever', for instance, don't put out boxes for computers, tvs etc until bin day and if you have had a smoker in the house or candles lit put outside before going to bed.

  • Make as many presents and cards as possible.  Try abstract art (canvasses are easy and cheap these days) for brothers and sisters, have a tee-shirt printed with a picture of the
family for Grandad, or give something that the receiver can make for themselves  - a tapestry kit for Aunt Michelle or a book on photography for Uncle Nigel.  May sound old fashioned but will show you are a trend setter and not a trend follower as well as showing that you’ve thought of the receiver’s likes and dislikes.

  • At Christmas and New Year we tend to see those who the rest of the year we would avoid like the plague!  The stress of the build up to the big day and the over excitement of children (and the adults!) in the party all add to an explosive mixture.  Try to think of ways to get everyone involved in helping whether with the cooking, the tidying up after the pressess have been opened or the emailing to say 'thanks'.  MOST OF ALL JUST HAVE FUN!!!!!
