Text & Colours - how to control via your browser
Microsoft Internet Explorer
For a PC
1. Open your web browser
2. Select 'Tools' from the menu at the top of the window
3. Pick 'Internet options' and then 'General' tab
4. Click on 'Accessibility' - to change the font size tick 'Ignore font sizes specified on web pages'
5. To remove colours and background details tick 'Ignore colours specified on web pages'
6. Click 'OK'
7. Choose 'View' from the top menu and from the options provided select 'Text size'
8. Select the applicable text size for your requirements.
For MAC
1. Open your web browser and select 'Edit' from the menu at the top of the window
2. Choose 'Preferences' from the options menu that appears and then click on 'web content'
3. Untick 'Show style sheets' and return to 'Preferences'
4. Click on 'Web browser' and select 'Language/fonts' - identify the font size your require.
Netscape Navigator earlier than version 6
Text Size
1. To change text size select 'Edit' and then 'Preferences'
2. Open the appearance group and click on 'Fonts'
3. Beside 'For the encoding' - this should be Western and 'Size' should be 18.
4. Next choose the 'Variable Width Font' option and pick 'Arial'
5. The 'Fixed Width Font' should be 'Courier New' and size '18'.
6. To override the fonts used on the website tick 'Use my default fonts overriding document specified fonts'
7. Click 'OK'
Colour
1. To change the colour on a page select 'Edit' and then 'Preferences' as detailed above
2. Open the appearances group and click on the 'Colors' category
3. Select the colour button to change the colours of text, background etc
4. To override the colours used on the website select 'Use my colours, overriding document'
5. Click 'OK'.
Netscape Navigator - Version 6 onwards
Text Size
1. To change the text size choose 'Edit' and 'Preferences' then open the appearances group and click on 'Fonts'
2. Beside 'Fonts for' should be Western and 'Proportional' field should be 'Sans-serif' with a font size of 18 - if necessary use the drop down list to amend
3. Beside 'Monospace' the font should be 'Courier New' and size '18'
4. In 'Minimum font size' select '18'
5. Untick 'Allow documents to use other fonts' and click 'OK'
Colour
1. To change the page colour, background etc choose 'Edit' and 'Preferences' as before
2. Open the appearances group and click on the 'Colors' option
3. Select an appropriate colour button to suit your requirements and override the web page colours by selecting 'Use my chosen colors, ignoring the colors and background image chosen'
4. Click 'OK'.
